It was pretty much the same response as the last time I tried, it could almost be a copy and paste but I have added the letters to a gallery below and you can decide for yourselves. However, this time I didn’t even warrant a reply from the Secretary of State for Education. I am thankful to Dr Brian Matthew for caring enough to try and get my message across.

Unfortunately, they are still relying on the term "Statutory Guidance" rather than structured and updated content, which can be taught in a standardised way by anybody. The creation of the content is the hardest part and one that needs to be handled by people who understand the topic fully, this is not the case under the current system of “Statutory Guidance”.

As I have tried to express on numerous occasions this leads to it being a postcode lottery, dependent on schools having people who understand cyber safety and can create content being employed there at a school. I know people around the country who work in both primary and secondary schools, who have confirmed this to me as being a concern.

It breaks my heart that children are effectively being let down by consecutive governments who are very adept at spinning "Statutory Guidance" as being enough to educate children about the risks online.

I have seen first-hand what happens to children who don't have the best education and awareness to protect themselves and it would horrify any normal person to even consider it, let alone witness it in their own lives.

It does not surprise me that “Diary Pressures” prevent them from wanting to speak to me in person, I am sure they would not want to hear about my experiences of the sad reality of what happens to children who are vulnerable due to a lack of awareness of the risks that lurk in the dark corners of the internet.

I will continue to try to do my bit through my blogging and hope that it helps to educate some parents and children. My conscience will at least hopefully be clear, not that it will help me sleep any better.
