In the spirit of International Women's Day, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible women in our lives and acknowledge their invaluable contributions, not just to our mental well-being, but to every facet of our existence.

Whilst my journey with C-PTSD has been a deeply personal one, it's impossible to ignore the profound impact the women around me have had on my recovery and overall quality of life.

My wife, Colleen, as many of you know, is my rock. She's the anchor that keeps me grounded when the storms of my mind rage. Her unwavering support, her empathy, and her fierce love have been instrumental in my healing process. She's my safe harbour, my confidante, and my reason for living.

But it's not just in the realm of mental health where women shine. Their strength, resilience, and compassion permeate through every aspect of society. From the boardroom to the classroom, from the hospital to the home, women are continuing to make a huge difference.

Think about the women in your life: your mothers, sisters, partners, friends, colleagues, mentors. They are the backbone of our communities, the driving force behind countless successes, and the unsung heroes of everyday life.

They are the nurses who provide comfort and care, the teachers and teaching assistants who inspire and educate, the entrepreneurs who innovate and create, the activists who fight for justice, and the mothers who nurture, guide and inspire our next generations.

They are the ones who often shoulder the burdens of caregiving, emotional labour, and societal expectations, yet they continue to rise to the occasion with grace and determination.

On this International Women's Day, let's take a moment to express our gratitude for the incredible women in our lives. Let's celebrate their achievements, acknowledge their struggles, and recognise their invaluable contributions to our world.

Let's also commit to creating a world where women are valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential. A world where their voices are heard, their contributions are recognised, and their dreams are supported.

To all the women out there, thank you. Thank you for your strength, your compassion, your resilience, and your unwavering support. You make our world a better place.
