Cyber Safety Guy Childline Donations
Support My Child Online Safety Work
I do not charge for what I do and never will!
Every guide I write, every session I deliver to schools and organisations, every newsletter that lands in your inbox. All of it is free.
Every penny from any paid subscriptions goes directly to Childline. That has been my ethos from the beginning, and it is not changing.
But people ask, organisations ask and free subscribers have asked. Until now my answer has been a slightly awkward version of, go make a donation in my name, I don't really have another way, except paid subscriptions.
Now I do!
Why a JustGiving Page?
A few weeks ago, an organisation I had delivered online safety sessions for came back and asked about the next block of training, they asked again how much I charge. I have had that conversation more than once over the years.
The honest answer has always been that I do not want payment. It would fundamentally change what this is and what my mission is. But it also felt wrong to just say no and leave it there, as if the only options are pay me or give nothing.
The JustGiving page solves that issue for me. If an organisation wants to recognise the work, they can donate directly to Childline, no invoice and no awkwardness. The money goes directly to where it should go and it is not only for organisations.
For Free Subscribers
If you have read something here that helped you start a difficult conversation with your child, or you have shared a guide with a school, or something I have written landed at the right moment and you want to do something practical with that, this is how.
If you are already a paid subscriber, thank you. Every penny of that goes directly to Childline, twice a year, without exception. The JustGiving page is for everyone else. If a monthly or yearly commitment does not work for you right now but you still want to give something, this is how you do it. One-off, no strings, no renewal reminder.
There is no suggested amount, no target and most importantly no pressure. Whatever feels right for you.
⚡Please don’t forget to react & restack if you appreciate my work. More engagement means more people might see it. ⚡
The Cost of This Work
I spent eight years in Digital Forensics with the RAF Police. I analysed over a million images in that time. Roughly a quarter of them were criminal. 1
I did that without any psychological support. No counselling, no debrief, no one checking in. I was eventually medically discharged with Complex PTSD in 2019. 2
I started Cyber Safety Guy because I needed that to mean something. Not to process it, I have other spaces for that. But to make sure the knowledge I carry from those years actually reaches the people who can use it. Parents. Teachers. Safeguarding professionals.
I do not take a wage from this. Not as a badge, but because the moment this becomes about money, it becomes something different.
I have seen enough of what happens to children when the adults around them are not paying attention to the risks online.
