We will have to agree to disagree mate and I hope you never have to experience the darkness I have because nobody deserves it. We will have to agree to disagree mate and I hope you never have to experience the darkness I have because nobody deserves it. I do understand the reticence and maybe technology will provide the solution eventually but in my humble opinion there needs to be a legal route to access these communications as there always has been in the past via providers, where a legal requirement is fulfilled and considered by a judge. Unfortunately people haven't experienced first hand the horrors so will always likely fall on your side of the debate.
I suspect we will have AI-driven capabilities at point of origin to identify obscene content being shared. Only issue is, who authorises the AI and where would we draw the line on what kind of content it would flag. There is a World of difference between PDFfiles sharing Godawful material, vs people sharing personal opinions, videos and political opinions that may not jive with an oppressive regime. For the avoidance of doubt, I perceive the UK to be in the process of slipping into the latter, and rhe freedom of ordinary and broadly decent individuals to be able to share ideas and opinions without Big Brother snooping over their shoulders to be sacrosanct. For the avoidance of doubt, I am a Libertarian but also one with a number of young nieces and nephews whom I wish to help teach to protect themselves from online predators.
I respect your struggle mate and your opinion and right to hold one. I don't know what the solution is and I can only control what I can control so I will continue to educate as best I can and hope that it protects as many as it can.
